Whats My Name

Rihanna ft. Drake | What’s My Name

Like I said earlier, I haven’t had my second cup of coffee yet, so I’m struggling to find enough words for the mediocre tracks I’ve found today.  With that in mind, these two have a romantic history together, and together musically they make sense.  But with a title like “What’s My Name” I’ll let you figure out went down between these two.

Drake | I Get Lonely Too

Drizzy is back with the latest installation from the upcoming mixtape “It’s Never Enough.”  It’s nice to get the consistency of an entire R&B song from this dude without it getting disrupted by lyrics or a guest spot that seem misplaced.  His ace, Noah “40” Shabib, is on the production side of things and the whole track remains tight throughout.  If this is what we can expect, “It’s Never Enough” is showing us some serious promise.

I Get Lonely can get had here.

Chris Brown x Drake x Kanye West x T.I. x Fabolous x Andre 3000 | Deuces Remix

I’m not a big fan of Chris Brown after the whole Rihanna incident.  However, considering Mario was just arrested for assaulting his own mother, I’ll cut the track a break (but not Chris Brown).

Ironically, the best part about this remix, is that Chris Brown is virtually absent from it.  I wasn’t feeling the original, but this is one talent laden track (T.I. being the weakest link, Andre 3000 the strongest, of course) and that makes it much more, well…interesting.

Back to my first paragraph though.  Brothas, keep your hands off your mothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, nieces, girlfriends and wives.  The shit is uncalled for, and unacceptable.  Beating a woman doesn’t mean she’ll be silent, it just means you’re too much of a booch to talk it out.

Derick G | Light Up Interpretation

If this is the kind of artistry I can expect to find when I head back to the 305 next month, I just may find myself a new home.  Derick G has put his stamp on just about anything fly you may have seen coming from the MIA, and this video is no different.  The work and the idea inspires me like crazy.

Light Up is one of my favorite songs on the Drake album, it’s dark like many of Drake’s beats, but the lyrics are ice cold and moody as all hell.  Derick G puts his own unique spin on Light Up with aesthetics that are reminiscent of both the Empire State of Mind & On to the Next One clips.  The freestyle at the end of the clip is just as awesome as the rest of the track, and the quality in which the video was shot and edited are top notch.  You can see more of Derick G’s work at, for now enjoy this hot ish.

2010 VMAs | Drake x Mary J. Blige x Swizz Beatz | Fancy

I missed the show last night, but this was a good performance by Drizzy, Swizzy and the Queen.  I’m hearing mixed reviews about the show in general, but I’ll catch the replay this week and post any highlights.
